Wide-Leg Jeans FAQs
Because of the wider leg, many people choose tighter-fitting tops to balance them out. We love to go with tight (but comfy) t-shirts or tanks, cropped sweaters, or bodysuits. The volume on the bottom makes your waist and torso look smaller in comparison. Of course, if you’re going for comfort, an oversized sweatshirt is never a bad idea. You can also boost your high-comfort look with a long oversized cardigan over a fitted t-shirt. Just grab your sneakers and go!
You may only get a peek of your shoe from under the wide-leg jeans hem, but don’t let that stop you. Lots of shoe styles will work well with wide-leg pants, including trusty sneakers, pointed-toe pumps, heeled sandals, flats, or ankle boots.
Like our bootcut jeans, wide-leg jeans can be worn cropped or full-length. Cropped styles are usually worn a few inches above the ankle, at the point where your calf starts to have shape (but not as high as capri pants).
Full-length wide-leg jeans should cover your ankles and rest on the tops of your shoes. Some women like them extra long so that they cover their shoes more fully—it’s a matter of preference!
Don’t worry, petite-sized women, we also offer petite wide-legged jeans! Check out the Good Petite ‘90s Jeans with loose, straight legs or the Good Petite Flare Jeans, both designed for those 5’4” and under.
Cropped wide-leg styles are pretty versatile as a casual but put-together look. Wear simple, low-profile sneakers with a tucked-in t-shirt and belt (layer with a white button-down or denim jacket if you like). For a slightly less casual look, try chunky sandals or low wedges with a crisp button-down or lacy top over dark wide-leg jeans.
There were a few years when skinny jeans ruled the fashion roost, but now you can wear a variety of jeans styles without a second thought. So yes, wide-leg jeans are riding a major comeback wave, and women of all shapes are taking advantage of their flattering appearance.
Tuck in your top, wear a sleek bodysuit, or go for a tighter-fitting t-shirt when wearing high-waisted wide-leg pants. Avoid anything too billowy or oversized on top (or just tuck it), and you’ll get an effortless look that accentuates your curves.
Wide-leg jeans play nicely with layers, so winter is as good a time as any to bring these out of the closet. Fitted sweaters can be tucked in and worn with a belt and wide-leg jeans. Long-sleeve t-shirts or bodysuits can keep you warm with your wide-leg styles. Or pull out your tank bodysuit and layer on a cozy, wide-knit cardigan or your go-to hoodie.
