Pants & Bottoms FAQs
To measure the length of your pants, lay them flat on a clean, smooth surface. Start by measuring from the crotch seam (where the legs meet) down to the hem at the bottom of the leg. This measurement is known as the inseam and is crucial for finding the right fit, especially if you’re shopping for bottoms like women's trousers or wide-leg pants. If you’re measuring for a specific style like parachute pants, know that the measurement may be longer than it would be for tapered legs.
To measure your waist, you’ll start by locating your natural waistline. Stand up straight, bend to one side, and find the crease that forms, usually at a level above your belly button and below your rib cage. Wrap a flexible measuring tape around your waist at that level, making sure it’s not twisted. It should be snug against your skin but not too tight.
Stand naturally, breathe normally, and read off the number where the tape meets itself. That’s your waist measurement!
Folding pants neatly keeps them wrinkle-free and saves space in your wardrobe. Start by laying your pants flat on a smooth surface. Fold one leg over the other so the seams align. Next, fold the pants in half by bringing the hem up to the waistband, or fold them into thirds for a more compact fold. And here’s another tip: If you’re packing for travel, roll your pants after folding them to maximize suitcase space.
Hanging your pants correctly helps maintain their shape and prevent creases that you might get from folding (especially for delicate fabrics like silk or linen). Use a hanger with clips or a bar. Fold the pants along the crease and hang them over the bar, ensuring they’re evenly aligned. If using a clip hanger, attach the clips to the waistband, spacing them evenly. Cargo pants and parachute pants can be hung the same way, with the waistband clipped or draped over the hanger to keep them looking fresh and ready to wear.
When wearing wide-leg pants, it’s all about creating a balanced outfit. These looks can be versatile enough to go from office wear to weekend outings with the right accessorizing. Pair wide-leg pants with a fitted top or a tucked-in blouse to accentuate your waist and create a flattering silhouette. For a more formal, polished outfit, go with a sleek pair of heels or ankle boots. Sneakers or flat sandals can also work well if you want a more casual vibe. Accessories like a statement belt or a structured handbag can also help elevate the ensemble. You do you.
Our Cargo pants combine a relaxed 90’s-inspired style with some good old functionality. Because of the volume and side pockets on cargo pants, try pairing them with a simple tee or crop top, along with some chunky sneakers or combat boots for a classic skater look. Add a bomber jacket or a hoodie for an effortless street-style outfit. To elevate your cargo pants for a night out, choose a fitted top or a bodysuit and finish the look with strappy heels and bold accessories.
Parachute pants are a trendy throwback to the 80s, characterized by their loose, billowy fit and lightweight fabric. They offer a relaxed vibe that’s perfect for streetwear or casual wear. Originally popularized by breakdancers, parachute pants have come back in contemporary fashion. Style them with crop tops, oversized jackets, or fitted tees. Good American parachute pants have a drawstring waist and hem ties that you can cinch closed for a distinctive harem-pant shape or leave loose and open.
